Failure to tackle the complex challenges of elderly care leads to great personal suffering, institutional discrimination, and exploitation, apart from the huge financial drain on individuals, families, and poor communities that are least able to manage further losses, and societies denied the tax benefits of a vested and experienced workforce. In presenting a brief introduction to age-related changes and complex challenges of senior elderly care, with a particular emphasis on unique biomarkers of somatopause, subclinical conditions, and companion animals as modulators of loneliness, the objective is to inspire further societal consideration of worthwhile investment in care for the vulnerable sector of our aging population.However, elderly care continues to face many challenges. It has been concluded that aging poses major challenges to societies, families, and the medical profession. There has been a marked increase in late-life diseases, and the management and organization of care for those over 65 are often complex. In this context, it should be of concern that care for the elderly has not been included in immediate investment priorities, nor is there an ongoing spotlight on delayed discharges.
